Slate enthusiastically recommends that you read at least half of this book. This all makes Marley & Me sound rather dreary, but it’s not so. Philadelphia magazine reports that Grogan’s HarperCollins sales reps have dubbed the book “Tuesdays With Marley”-the kind of treacle in which a middle-aged man looks to a companion (a wizened mentor or, in this case, an energetic Labrador) for clues to life’s Big Questions. Marley and me book review Soon after their wedding, John and Jenny Grogan escape the brutal Michigan winters and relocate to a cottage in southern Florida, where they are hired as reporters for competing newspapers. 1 spot on the New York Times best-seller list for weeks. This makes me unusual, apparently-Grogan’s book has occupied the No. Thus, I came to John Grogan’s Marley & Me, a memoir about a man and his dog, without much pro-dog sentiment.

My father, a deeply compassionate man, ruminated for a few weeks before packing Heidi into the car and heading off to face the only humane solution: He released her in a local park and sprinted in the opposite direction. This condition is perhaps explained by the first dog that I ever owned, a bushy, black Lhasa apso named Heidi, who, around the time I turned 5 years old, began growling every time I walked into the room. He makes that abundantly clear in Marley and Me, a very funny valentine to all those four-legged 'big, dopey, playful galumphs that seemed to love life with a passion not often seen in this world.'Its a book with intense but narrow appeal, strictly limited to anyone who has ever had, known or wanted a dog. His latest book, The Longest Trip Home is out now. Grogan knew the workings of Marleys mind. John lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, Jenny, and their three children.

If you pick up this book expecting a unique story. About the author (2012) John Grogans first book, Marley & Me was a number one international bestseller and was released as a major movie in 2008, breaking box office records. Even in my old age, I remain ambivalent about dogs. All in one book Marley & Me is the predictable and somewhat cliche story about a dog and his owner.
